2 Night Girls trip to Seaside: 1 mom + 3 sisters = a lot of fun
I believe it's fun and important to connect with my mom and sisters, and to be able
to getaway and recharge on Girls Trips every year. This year we chose Seaside and
Cannon Beach for their proximity to the Portland and Seattle areas, walk ability,
and things to do. We found there was more than enough to do on our 2-day trip.
We were pleased that although it poured most of the trip, we didn't let that
dampen our fun (pun intended!)
Friday Night Highlights
The weather forecast wasn’t looking to be in our favor, so we
hurried outside to do some exploring before the rain came.
Outdoor Exploring: We explored the Circle Creek Conservation Center.
This is just minutes outside Seaside and is a fabulous nature preserve.
Make sure to wear boots that can get muddy. We found frogs, newts
and lots of elk prints in the mud. The warbling of the creek was
calming and it was fun to find so many fun things on the path as we
walked. We even found an elk jaw bone near the parking lot.
Hotel: We checked into the Gilbert Inn in Seaside after our outing. We stayed in the largest of the rooms, the
Garret Room. This room is on the 3rd floor of the building, has a queen bed, 2 twin beds, bathroom with
shower/tub combo, sitting area near the electric fireplace, refrigerator and microwave and cozy window seat with
a peak of the Pacific Ocean. There is enough room for 4 in this room. Bonus: we celebrated my sister's 30th
birthday and were greeted with cider and chocolates. There is usually a flower bouquet included, but we chose not
to have the flowers as we were all travelling to get home after the trip.
It started raining, and didn’t let up much the rest of the weekend, but with waterproof shoes and good rain gear
we did so much exploring!
Dinner: Everyone was craving fish, so we walked down through town (everything is a short walk in town) to
Tom’s Fish and Chips. Quick, fast, delicious food.
Dessert: A must stop; Sea Star Gelato, just a 10 minute walk to the hotel. They make their gelato from scratch
and it’s delicious.
Everything in town is so walkable, we left our car at the hotel after checking in and walked to
dinner and dessert and back to the hotel.
Games and Painting: The Sunroom (where breakfast is served) is open for guests to use after breakfast is served
and cleaned. We typically pull out our watercolors every girls trip, so we pulled them out again and enjoyed
each other's company.
It was a great first day; we didn't let the weather 'dampen' our fun and enjoyed some great food. We slept well
in the Garrett room too
